Launching the future of Enhanced Sensorial Computing – together.

On May 20, 2023, while Apple unveiled its new VisionOS at WWDC, another OS quietly lit up its first boot screen in Belgium. Inside the AJXHQ Lab at theEgg, Brussels, a new era of sensory computing was born: SensoryOS.

🌀 What is SensoryOS?

SensoryOS is an embedded sensory operating system designed to digitize smell, taste, texture, and multisensory feedback – bringing nature into the machine. Built by Ajinomatrix, SensoryOS integrates data from:

smart aquaponics,
mushroom terrariums,
coffee aroma profiles,
dog panels,
and even biowearables (via MIDI/PlantWave etc.).

Think of it as the Sensory Linux for environmental, foodtech, and wellness ecosystems.

🚀 The First Boot

On a minimalist Ubuntu 22.04 core, SensoryOS now boots autonomously, can connect to real-time sensory feeds, and process sample data from living biospheres. It’s lean, elegant, modular – and just getting started.

🤝 Why We're Going Open Source (Carefully)

We're now entering Phase 2: the community phase. We want to invite contributors, testers, artists, biohackers, and developers to co-build this with us. But here's what we ask:

💡 SensoryOS is open source in spirit and modularity,yet safeguarded by Ajinomatrix IP standards (hardware APIs, data formats, TasteTuner, MP6 codecs, etc.).

This ensures everyone can contribute, test, and remix, while protecting the core technology Ajinomatrix is building commercially with global partners (Nestlé, automotive leaders, space researchers, etc.).

SensoryOS is being developed under a dual license model:

Open source for non-commercial R&D, education, and pilot prototyping.
Commercial APIs protected via the Ajinomatrix core license (e.g., TasteTuner, RecipeAnalyzer, SensoryKit as of AjinoVerse2.0).

This keeps the ecosystem fair, sustainable, and safe for the startup driving its vision – while letting ideas bloom.
